Flames set to light the way

Flames set to light the way

Best of luck from the YTF team to The Emmaus Flames, the Corporate Cup team from Emmaus College.

The team includes a fantastic representation from the College with past student Alanna Bowles in the swim, Emmaus College teacher Graham Leeson on the bike and current year 10 student Nicholas Green in the run.

We think the other Corporate Cup teams may have their work cut out for them too – if we take a quick peek at the Emmaus Flames credentials.

Nick was recently the first place finisher in the Rocky to River run, is a successful soccer player and has also just competed in the Queensland Cross Country Championships.

Alanna was successful in representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games for swimming during her time at Emmaus College. Alanna now teaches learn to swim classes in the community along with mentoring Emmaus athletes, both young and old, in swimming and dealing with the pressures of competing at high levels all while still staying on track with their work, study, and training.

Then there is Graham, well, he is simply the very lucky teacher with a keen interest in sports who is blessed to teach students like Alanna and Nick.

The encouragement that Emmaus College give to students, with the support from their Sports Department and Sports Development Officer Justen Parle, to not only participate and be involved in schools sports but also community activities is exemplary.

Best of luck Team Emmaus Flames, we hope your endeavours burn brightly during the Yeppoon Triathlon Festival.
